Welcome to my Blog!

I am Dan.  This is my blog.

I've been working in technology for many years.  Most of my friends call me Dan, and quite a few of my coworkers and subordinates call me Chief.  I was exposed to technology since about 1983, and actively learning about it and practicing in it since about 1988.  That's using and learning about MS-DOS 5.0+, OS/2 2.0+, and Windows 3.0+, device drivers, interrupts, direct memory access, and a lot about hardware.

Admittedly, trial and error was expensive back then.  Luckily, my father was a technologist, technician, engineer, and computer programmer from waaaaay back....back in the early times of the minicomputer (before the times of the microcomputers we enjoy today).  He exhibited an enormous amount of patience and guidance back then, and showed me what the value of accuracy and technicality was.

I began my career as an electronics technician and systems administrator in 2002, and began my first serious foray into information security (now commonly called cyber security) a few years after that.  More recently, I've fully immersed myself in information security as a subject matter expert and skilled technician, and my self-education has not stopped.

I've been a technician, systems administrator, engineer, teacher, developer, and Soldier...whatever role needed to be filled over the years.  I decided to write this blog because I haven't found a blog that's quite captured all of the thoughts, theories, or ideas I've felt were relevant to the discussion.

Additionally, I'm a husband and a father.  Both of these factors will probably become apparent
as time goes on and I attempt to share my thoughts in a manner that most of the readers of this blog might relate to.

So there it is, folks.

I am Dan.  This is my blog.

I hope you enjoy the ride and let me know how I'm doing.
